WHAT IS AMAZON PRIME?
Do you have Amazon Prime? Prime is a subscription service that gives you free shipping, streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows, commercial free music streaming, access to the Kindle library, and much, much more.
If you don’t already have Prime you can get a free 30 day trial here:

I only got Amazon Prime a couple of years ago, and don’t take advantage of most of the benefits it offers, but even so I can’t imagine being without it!
Amazon Prime Day is like a middle of the year Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping day. There are huge sales all over Amazon, and bargains to be had!
Travel Shopping
I had been planning on doing a post about my new travel hairdryer, which is the most amazing travel hair tool I have ever owned, but figured in case it is on sale on Amazon Prime Day you need to know about it now.
I have more Glam Italia Tours about to take off in September and October, and my travelers are always wanting info on different things to pack for their trips, so in the off chance that any of these are on sale on Amazon Prime Day, I’m putting them in this post.
Best Travel Hair Dryer (Ever!)
Heads up, this is the best travel hairdryer I have ever owned.
Typically I have found travel hairdryers to be too bulky when I’m trying to keep my packing streamlined, and also half of them leave my hair frizzy and unmanageable. My home hairdryer is always some combination of titanium/ceramic/ion-something, and therefore keeps my hair smooth. Travel hairdryers tend to not have the same technology.
The BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Travel Dryer does. You can blow out your hair and have it smooth and glossy. But that’s just part of it – this dryer is the size of a new born kitten! When the handle is folded down it is about the same size as a coffee cup. I almost sent it back when I opened the box, because I thought there was no way something that small could possibly dry my thick head of hair, but decided to give it a whirl and I’m glad I did.
On top of the size, power and technology this hairdryer has two settings for electricity, 125 volts and 250 volts. When I am traveling in the U.S. I have it set to 125 and when I’m in Europe or Australasia I have it set to 250.
This hairdryer is tiny but powerful, and I definitely recommend it.
Best Travel Toothbrush
We all know that sonic toothbrush technology is the best for not only keeping your pearly whites clean, but also keeping them white. But do you want to travel your expensive Sonic toothbrush from home? I don’t.
The HIEIE Sonic Electric Toothbrush, USB Rechargeable Toothbrush Travel with 2 Replacement Heads, 5 Brushing Modes with 2 Minutes Timer, IPX7 Waterproof (Black) was built for travel. It uses a USB connection to charge, and a full charge lasts 10 hours, or 30 days. It is compact, comes with a travel case and 2 replacement heads.
The Best Travel Adaptor
I actually had a much more expensive adapter that I had been using for several years, and didn’t want to send it to Europe with my on last year, certain he would lose it, so I bought him this one instead. It is totally brilliant, so now I use it when I travel!
The Castries Universal Travel Adapter, All-in-one Worldwide Travel Charger Travel Socket, International Power Adapter with 4 USB Ports, AC Plug for US EU UK AU & Asian Countries, Blue works all over the world, has two USB charging ports, and is quite compact. We have it in blue but I think it comes in other colors too.
One of the things i like about this adapter is that it is self contained. You don’t have to take it apart and find the attachment for the country you are in, which means you don’t lose random pieces – you just slide that country from the selection on the side.
Best Reading Device
Do you own a Kindle? I don’t. I read books on my iPad via the Kindle App. The only problem is my iPad is getting old as will need to be replaced soon. I read everything via the Kindle App now, so it makes sense for me to actually invest in a Kindle device sometime soon.
You can get a regular Kindle for as little as $89 retail price, but I have been doing some research and there is a new one coming, the Kindle Oasis.
The All-new Kindle Oasis – Now with adjustable warm light is scheduled to go on sale on July 24th, but I am pretty sure there will be Amazon Prime Day pre-sales on it. It is a little larger than other Kindles with a 7 inch screen instead of a 6 inch. It is waterproof, but has the new advantage of enabling you to change the light from bright white to a warm creamy tone.
I have always worried about glare if I am trying to read on the beach and also the waterproof aspect if I am trying to read near water (pool/lake/beach/boat). Most Kindles are now glare resistant and also waterproof, so if this one is more expensive than you wanted there are definitely other options that are still ideal for travelers.
One extra benefit with this new model is Amazon is giving you 6 months free of Kindle Unlimited, which means you can download books galore (including my books!) for free. Once your free Unlimited subscription expires you still get to keep the books you downloaded.
Best External Battery
An external power bank/battery for your phone is essential when you’re traveling. Not only do you need to be able to stay in touch with the world, you need to have your phone functioning when you are trying to use GPS and maps, and possibly even more importantly, you are likely to be taking photos and videos on your phone, which runs the battery down fast.
I am a huge advocate for boarding every flight with a fully charged phone and a fully charged battery pack. You never know what is going to happen en route to your destination, and anyone who has ever been stranded or had their flight delayed for hours will tell you you will wish you had access to a battery charger!
Amazon’s top selling external battery is this one: Portable Charger Power Bank 24800mAh High Capacity External Battery Smaller Size Lighter Weight Backup Battery Compatible with Smart Phone, Android Phone, Tablet and More It is lightweight, has 2 USB ports and a huge capacity to power up phones and tablets, multiple times.
Best Travel Speaker
I am actually in the market for a new travel speaker and am hoping these Bose speakers go on sale on Amazon Prime Day. I like to have music with me everywhere I go, and normally have something fabulous playing while I’m making coffee in the morning before heading out sightseeing for the day, and while I’m having a glass of wine and journaling in the evening.
Bose speakers have fantastic sound quality, even with small speakers like this one. The Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker is perfect for travel.
Best Anti-Theft Handbag
One big worry when you are traveling is being pick-pocketed or robbed, so having an anti-theft handbag can give you significant peace of mind.
Travelon anti theft handbags are world famous. They utilize multiple technologies to keep your belongings safe. Starting with the cross body strap (essential for travel), this one has a cable running through the inside of the strap, making it cut proof. The body of the bag is slash proof, AND has RFID blockers so your cards and passport cannot be cloned.
The bag also uses carabiners to lock the zippers so no one can slip their hand inside your bag uninvited. Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Essential Messenger Bag, Black, One Size

I purchased a Power Bank 25000mAh Portable Charger Battery Pack from Amazon and the box had a sticker on stating not safe on passenger airplanes. I purchased it because you recommended taking a batter pack. Do you think this is true? Should I purchase a different brand?
Author
Hi Connie – none of mine have come with that warning. Which brand did you buy? I have 3 (mine, one for my son and a small one) and none have had that on the box. Mind you mine max out at (I think) about 10000 mAh. I would google it and perhaps swap it out for one with a lower power. It could be powered by a lithium battery like those exploding Samsung phones
