HaruHaru Wonder Cleansing Oil is my other mainstay cleanser. I keep bottles of it (and all my skin care) both at my home in America and at my home in Italy. Cleansing oil (when you’re not traveling) is amazing for dissolving makeup and deep cleansing skin. I tried the IOPE Bio Caffeine Serum last Black Friday after seeing it recommended by a Korean beauty influencer. The company claims you’ll see a difference in your skin in 2 weeks, and surprisingly, you do! It is hydrating, firming, rejuvenating and nourishing, and the shot of caffeine wakes and lifts the skin. MOISTURIZERS

In the winter I like to use heavier moisturizers to really boost and protect my skin, but in the summer, especially when I’m in Italy’s humidity, I prefer something more lightweight.

Mizon Collagen Power Lifting Emulsion

My Amazon cart says I have reordered this one 9 times already. Before I started buying Mizon Collagen Power Lifting Emulsion on Amazon I was buying it from a Korean website, for years. It has been around a long time and is extremely good. This is a fantastic paraben free moisturizer with marine collagen. It balances your skin’s moisture equation, has a non-greasy feel, and is great under makeup. I use it as my daytime moisturizer and when I’m somewhere humid I use it at night as well. lliyoon Ceramide Concentrate Cream

I am still on my first tube of this wonder cream but am ordering another while it is in the Black Friday sale. I learned about Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream from Korean beauty influencer Chriselle Lim, who in turn had learned about it during a trip back to Korea. I was mostly using it at night for extra hydration, but lately have been using it during the day too for gorgeous, glowy, hydrated skin. I think this product was originally intended to be a body product, but Korean girls known to have the most extraordinary skin in the world, started using it on their faces too and had fantastic results. When I ordered mine the first time I accidentally ordered a giant tube, which is why it is still going strong. It comes in 3 sizes, so take your pick. LASH SERUM

I first received Babe Lash Essential Lash Serum in a subscription box a few years ago. At the time I was ordering generic Latisse through a Canadian pharmacy (and still paying a small fortune) to coax length and growth into my naturally stubby lashes. I had exactly zero faith in a product called Lash Babe, but when my lashes became thin and short after my Canadian supply ended, I decided to give it a go.

You cannot imagine how surprised I was that this funny little product out performs Latisse! At full price it is only $29 but is now on sale on Amazon for Black Friday. Be prepared to be fabulously surprised with this lash serum. Your lashes grow quickly and stay that way for a long time. This one is a winner – check it out here on Amazon.

HAIR PRODUCTS

I rotate between two favorite brands of hair products. The first brand was the creation of a former hairdresser – now influencer from Arizona. I love buying from owner operated businesses and also from female owned and run businesses, especially when the product is fantastic.

Dae Hair Products.

Dae is owned and operated by beauty influencer Amber Fillerup. Her entire product line is fabulous, but I started with the Signature Shampoo and Conditioner. I have linked it here on Amazon but frequently buy it through Sephora, routing it through one of the airline shopping portals to get extra frequent flier miles. Dae does good Black Friday deals, but you may want to check both Sephora and the Dae website to find your best deal. I also love their 3 in 1 Styling Cream, the Cactus Hair Oil, Monsoon Moisture Mask and the Wave Spray. They have other products I haven’t yet tried.

All Dae products are responsibly made – Vegan, sulfate-free, cruelty-free, no synthetic colors, and comes in recyclable packaging.

AG Care

The other hair product line I use is AG Care. They’ve been around for a while and their products are tremendous. I’ve used their Re-Coil curl product for several years, as well as their leave in conditioner. I rotate through their shampoo and conditioner and Dae’s.

My current favorite product is this Vitamin C Hair Serum. I run it through towel dried damp hair before blow drying, and it gives me glossy, bouncy, well groomed hair. Check prices on Amazon here.

One of the great things now is you can buy super high performing skin care and hair care products like the ones on this list at incredibly affordable prices. Korean skin care is a fantastic example – considered the very best skin care in the world (South Korea is the world capital of skin care research and development) it is generally quite inexpensive. You can buy it affordably through Korean apps like JOLSE or on Amazon, at a much better price than in shops.

Micellar Water: A French Skincare Secret You Need To Know

What Is Micellar Water? Have you ever tried this fabulous skin cleanser? For years it has been a makeup artist secret but now anyone can get it. If you look inside almost any pro-makeup artist’s makeup kit you will find a bottle of micellar water and cotton pads. Prior to it being readily available in the United States I would bring back bottles of micellaire water every time I went to Paris, then once it was available at the pro makeup artist supply stores such as Naimies in Los Angeles, I would add bottles to every makeup order I placed.

What Is Micellar Water?

Originally developed for Parisian women as an alternative to cleansing their skin with Paris’ harsh water, micellar (micellair ) water is a highly effective and efficient skin cleanser. It removes all makeup, oil, and other gunk from your pores while toning your skin. It also works as a makeup remover on the toughest kinds of makeup – from lipstick to waterproof mascara. This fantastically dynamic cleanser is all thanks to tiny cleansing micelles that cling to debris on the skin, while purifying and softening the skin

How does it work? The way micellar water works is that a mild surfactant, the natural chemical that gets rid of dirt and makeup, clusters up into tiny balls called micelles. Once you pump it onto a cotton round, the micelles rearrange themselves for optimal cleansing. All you need to do is saturate a cotton round with the micellar water, and swipe over the skin. You can see all the grime and dirt sweep away!

The two main ingredients in micellar water are soft water and surfactants. These are cool little molecules that have a hydrophilic head at one end, that is attracted to water and repels oils, and a lipophilic tail at the other end that is attracted to oil and grease and repels water. Oil and water naturally repel one another, so it is difficult for water to cleanse away oil on the skin without help. Surfactants in micellar water surround the oils on the surface of our skin and “hide” them from the water, allowing the lipophilic tail to scoop them up and take them away, leaving no residue on the surface of the skin.

Who Should Use Micellar Water?

For makeup artists these cleansers are fantastic because we can do a quick sweep of the skin with micellar water on a cotton pad, and not only remove makeup and cleanse the skin, but also leave it ready to take a new makeup application without any slime or residue gunking up the complexion and making makeup slip off.

Micellar water is also great for everyday use for you and me. It is a lovely cleanser that not only cleans our skin but also leaves our complexion balanced. My pet skin care peeve is cleansers that strip the skin, creating a cycle of oil and dryness problems. Great skin begins with a cleanser that cleans skin while leaving it soft and supple and ready to accept skincare products. Micellar water is good for everyone.
